Mikimoto Pearl Island

“Birth of a white treasure.”
Mikimoto Pearl Island is a tourist attraction exhibits pearls, pearl cultivation, and history of Kokichi Mikimoto, located in the Ise Bay. Kokichi Mikimoto, the first person who succeeded in cultivating pearls in 1893, was called as “Pearl King”. The Pearl Island is consist of three areas, Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall, Pearl Museum, and Pearl Plaza. It also offers diving performances by Ama divers (traditional style female pearl divers). The bridge connected to the Island has no elevator, however, stair lifting machine for wheelchairs is available.
